The Lord Is Near

The Lord is near. It often doesn’t feel that way, does it? Heaven seems far away. God seems far away. Help and hope seem far away. At least, that’s what the devil wants you to believe.

But the Lord is near. He is near to you. Here’s the Bible’s promise: “The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” (Psalm 145:18). The Lord is not far away. The Lord is near to every single person who calls on him in truth. Wouldn’t it be great to always have God right there with you?

So how can we call on him in truth? Through Jesus. Only through Jesus. Jesus told his disciples, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). When Jesus died for us on the cross, he opened up the way to God the Father. Jesus is the way! Every believer in Jesus can call out to God through Jesus—the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

The Lord is near. The Lord is near to you. When you sin, don’t turn away from God. Call out to him through Jesus your Savior. When you feel all alone, don’t despair. Call out to the Lord and listen for his voice in the Word. When you struggle to face life’s struggles, don’t be afraid. Call on the Lord. The Lord is near to you.
