Lord, Save Me!

Sometimes all you can say is, “Lord, save me!” Are you having one of those days? You thought you had reached rock bottom, only you keep falling. You thought life couldn’t get any worse, but you were wrong. You don’t know what to do. All you can say is, “Lord, save me!”
You’re not alone. Long ago, a believer in God prayed that same prayer. Here’s how he described it: “The cords of death entangled me, the anguish of the grave came over me; I was overcome by distress and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord: ‘Lord, save me!” (Psalm 116:3-4).
Does that sound familiar? “Cords of death entangled me.” “Anguish came over me.” “Overcome by distress and sorrow.” Does that sound familiar? All he could say was, “Lord, save me!”
And God did! In the very next verses, that same believer in God wrote, “The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The LORD protects the unwary; when I was brought low, he saved me. Return to your rest, my soul, for the LORD has been good to you” (Psalm 116:5-7).
Those words are true for you too! The Lord is gracious. God is full of compassion. He saved you.
When you cry out, “Lord, save me!” Jesus says, “I have, my child. Look at how I died for you on the cross. You are loved. You are cherished. You are forgiven. Rest, dear soul. I have saved you!”
