Darkness into Light

It’s amazing what a little light can do. A nightlight can calm a child’s fear of the dark. The light of the moon can cast shadows in the darkness. It’s amazing what a little light can do.

So what do you think God’s light can accomplish? King David in the Bible knew: “You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light” (2 Samuel 22:29). God can turn darkness into light!

The world is a dark place. David experienced lots of darkness in his life. He knew the darkness of war and went face-to-face with the giant Goliath. He knew the darkness of injustice, as evil King Saul spent years trying to capture and kill David. He knew the darkness of sin and guilt, because David himself committed adultery. The world is a dark place, but David knew what the light of God can do: “You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.”

No matter what darkness you are facing today, the Lord turns darkness into light. Do you face the darkness of fear for what the future holds? God has your life perfecly planned out. Do you face the darkness of guilt for your past? Jesus died on the cross to take your sins away. Do you face the darkness of depression? Jesus will never leave you, and his promises give you hope for better days.

The world is a dark place, but “the Lord turns my darkness into light.”
