Weary and Burdened?

Writer: Pastor Nathan NassPastor Nathan Nass

Have you heard about Shrek the sheep? I’ve seen his story all over on Facebook. Shrek wandered off from his flock and lived by himself for six years. When his shepherd finally found him, he was one big ball of wool! In just 28 minutes, all that wool was sheared off—60 pounds worth! Imagine having that burdened lifted off your back. I bet he felt like a whole new sheep.

How much baggage are you carrying around? How many past sins and heartaches weigh you down? The devil tells you to run. He tells you that you’re better off on your own. What a lie! Shrek the sheep knows the truth: It’s so much better with your shepherd. No matter what you’ve done, no matter where you’ve been, Jesus hasn’t forgotten about you. Jesus loves you. Jesus searches for you each and every day.

Here’s your Shepherd’s invitation: “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Weary and burdened today? Don’t run off on your own. May Jesus give you rest with his forgiveness and love.
