Do you feel overwhelmed? Afraid? Like the world is against you? The prophet Elisha’s servant in the Bible did. Have you ever heard the story of Elisha and the army of Aram? It’s one of the coolest stories in the Bible. The entire army of the country of Aram was out to get the prophet Elisha. The world really was against him! One day, Elisha’s servant woke up and saw the enemy army surrounding their little town. He freaked out! “Oh, my lord, what shall we do?” An entire army against one prophet and his servant. The odds didn’t look good. The world was against them. That servant was afraid!
But Elisha wasn’t. As the enemy army surrounded their town, he calmly told his servant, “Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” What? Was the old prophet crazy? No! Elisha prayed, “‘O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2 Kings 6:16-17). It wasn’t a whole army against Elisha and his servant. It was a whole army against Elisha, his servant, and the angels of God! Elisha knew the truth: “Those who are with us are MORE…”
That’s true today for you too. No matter what army has surrounded you, no matter what fears fill you, with God and his angels on your side, those who are with us are MORE! Do you think our Savior Jesus who died for us is ever going to be abandon us? No way! May God open our eyes to see and believe that those with us are more.
