Seek Ancient Paths

We’re always focused on what’s new. Would you agree? We want the latest. The coolest. The trendiest.
But that doesn’t satisfy. When you get the latest new thing, what do you almost immediately need? The newer latest thing. Are you beginning to realize that so much of life is shallow? Superficial? Transitory?
Long ago, God gave his people in the Bible this encouragement, “This is what the LORD says, ‘Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls” (Jeremiah 6:16). Instead of always seeking what’s new, seek ancient paths.
For thousands of years, people all over the world have found God’s way to be the best way to live. For thousands of years, people facing all sorts of heartache and hardships have found rest for their souls in God. Do you think that’s worth investigating? Do you think you could find rest in God too? Of course!
Because those ancient paths of the Bible all lead to the empty tomb of Jesus. Every promise. Every story. Every path in the Bible leads to the empty tomb of Jesus. After he died on the cross for our sins, Jesus rose from the dead to win eternal life for all who believe in him. What does that give your soul? Rest!
Don’t follow the crowd in seeking what’s new. Instead, seek ancient paths. They lead to rest in Jesus.
