Our Light

“This sickness is horrible. Every day I feel weaker with lots of pain, and I can hardly breathe at all. I know there are a lot of people out there who don’t believe this virus exists, but I can tell you it’s for real. For me, it’s been a call to repentance. I pray to God that he let me wake up in the morning. But then as soon as I wake up, I pray to God that it would be night because it’s so bad. I just don’t want to lose my faith.” I got a text last night with those exact words from a lady in my city with COVID-19. It breaks your heart, doesn’t it? There are people who are really hurting, suffering, dying… What could I say?

She needs hope and comfort from Jesus. So I sent her a text with these words from the Bible: “The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1). Where there’s fear, where there’s darkness, she has a Light. You have a Light. The LORD! He’s with you right now, and he died and rose to give you life forever in heaven. There are moments in life when there’s nothing we can do but trust in Jesus. Would you say a prayer for my friend today? May she and you and I find hope in our Light.
