Our Everlasting Light

Writer's picture: Pastor Nathan NassPastor Nathan Nass

Is the darkness starting to get you down? It’s hard to wake up in the dark. It’s hard to have it be dark by 4:30 in the afternoon. Darkness stinks. It affects our moods. It affects our hearts. There’s a reason the Bible so often compares sin and evil to darkness. Darkness clouds our minds and our hearts.

So take heart in God’s promise: “Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end” (Isaiah 60:20). There’s no darkness in heaven. Why? The Lord is our light. Sound great? Yes! Just know that you don’t have to wait until heaven to find peace and joy in Jesus’ light. His forgiveness cheers our hearts. His Word lights our path. His presence brightens our world. I know it’s dark outside, but whenever the darkness gets you down, remember: “The LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.”
