Ever look around these days and think, “God just needs to start over.” We people are so messed up, aren’t we? Sin affects everyone and everything, including the world itself. Viruses mutating and spreading. Hurricanes hitting over and over again. Fires ravaging beautiful landscapes. Garbage everywhere. We’re a mess. It’s a mess. God just needs to start over. He needs to make things new.
He will. God is light-years ahead of us. He’s got it all planned out. Here’s his promise: “Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” (Isaiah 65:17). A new heavens and a new earth. Isn’t that exactly what we need? A perfect place. No death or sadness. No hurricanes or fires. No garbage or sin. Want that? Desire that? By God’s grace, it’s yours by faith in Jesus. The new heavens and new earth are for everyone forgiven by Jesus’ blood.
When the world seems all messed up, wait for the LORD. One day, you’ll see the new heavens and new earth, and sin and death and hurricanes and fires and COVID will never come to mind again.
