You can never have enough money. Have you learned that yet? It’s a hard truth for us to grasp. We always feel like we almost have enough. We just need that one more thing. One more project complete. One more check…
Here’s what wise King Solomon learned: “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless” (Ecclesiastes 5:10). Isn’t that the truth? When you love money, you never have enough. When you love stuff, you never have enough.
The more you have, the more you want. The more you want, the less content you are.
Stop! There’s another way to live. “When God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God” (Ecclesiastes 5:19). What a difference! To recognize that everything comes from God, to accept what God has given you, and to be happy with the work you have to do, this is a gift of God.
Here’s the truth: God has given you and me more than enough. He’s given us Jesus, who died to forgive us and rose to give us eternal life. He’s given us life today and strength to serve him in whatever he’s called us to do. He’s given us food and clothes and so much more. You can never have enough money. But when you have Jesus, you have more than enough.
