Let’s Go to the House of the Lord

Above one of the entrances to our church, there is a Bible verse: “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord’” (Psalm 122:1). I saw that rejoicing firsthand this past weekend. Three different people came back to church for the first time since before the pandemic. Even with their masks on, I could see what they were feeling: Joy! It’s great to share God’s Word virtually, but King David’s words are still true: “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’

Notice something about that verse: It doesn’t just say that it’s great to be at God’s house. Believers in God were inviting each other to go and worship God together. One believer was saying to another, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Isn’t that cool? If you haven’t been at church in a while, try coming back. If you’ve been attending every week, bring someone along next time. There’s great joy in worshiping God together. “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’
