It’s All from God

“This can’t be from God.” How often do you say that? Think that? When the worst thing happens… When sickness strikes at the worst time… When the one relationship you counted on falls apart… When you sit all alone… “This can’t be from God! This must be a mistake. Right?”

No. Here’s what God says, “I am the LORD, and there is no other. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things” (Isaiah 45:6-7). Isn’t that surprising? Not the prosperity part. That’s what we want and expect from God. But God also says, “I create disaster.” The good and the bad, the best days and the worst days, it’s all from God.

Isn’t that comforting? It’s meant to be. The same gracious God who loves you and sent his Son Jesus to save you controls absolutely everything in your life. It’s all from God! The things that seem good? They come from God. The things that seem awful? They come from God too. He does all these things.

You can trust God and his grace in the light and in the darkness. It’s all from God. The same God who used Sarah’s barrenness and Joseph’s slavery and Jonah’s fish and Paul’s thorn in the flesh and Jesus’ cross to accomplish our salvation is working behind the scenes in everything in your life too.

Whether you’re experiencing prosperity or disaster today, it’s all from God.
