Family pictures are stressful. When you’re trying to take a group photo, what does the picture taker have to say over and over again? “Hold still. Hold still!” Why? Who is doing all the work? The photographer. In fact, if the family does anything, it will hurt the picture. The very best thing they can do is hold still and let the photographer work. She has a vision in her mind of the best picture possible.
Isn’t that the truth with our God? He tells us, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Like the best photographer who has a perfect picture in mind, God knows exactly what he is doing. He has life all planned out in the best possible way for you and me. What do we need to do? Just hold still. Stop squirming. Stop doing your own thing. Just hold still. Let God work! Trust his expertise. You’ll be amazed at the final picture. It will be better than you can possibly imagine. Just hold still.
