Hardships into Blessings

Ever feel like everyone is against you? Like each day brings more unexpected hardships? That was really true for the Israelites in Egypt. They were forced into slavery, and things went from bad to worse. “So the Egyptians put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh” (Exodus 1:11). Can you imagine that? Slavery? Forced labor?

Do you know what the result was? They were blessed! Sound strange? Listen: “But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites” (Exodus 1:12). The worse the Israelites were treated, the more God blessed them. Their hardships weren’t a result of God’s anger against them. Actually, their hardships were part of God’s plan to bless them. God knows how to thwart evil plans. He’s been doing it for thousands of years. Even if it seems like everyone is against you, God blesses his people. Nothing can ever separate us from Jesus’ love.

The Christian author C.S. Lewis once wrote: “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” No matter what you face today, you’re not alone. God’s at work in your life!
