Grace to Ungrateful Children

Did you hear about the man who is suing his parents for giving birth to him without his consent? Don’t you want to say, “Really? How could you be so unthankful?” Suing your parents after all they’ve done for you? Who does that?

I do. You do. Maybe not in a courtroom against our mom and dad. But we certainly do against our heavenly Father. How many times haven’t you complained against God? Accused him for your troubles? Suing your Dad? I’ve done it. I bet you have too. Here’s God’s warning: “Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’… Woe to the one who says to a father, ‘What have you begotten?’ or to a mother, ‘What have you brought to birth?’” (Isaiah 45:9-10).

Thankfully, our loving, patient, gracious heavenly Father has compassion on us and forgives us in Jesus. I’m thankful that God’s grace doesn’t depend on our gratitude!
