“I can’t do it.” “I’m not strong enough.” “There’s no way I can get this done on my own.” How often do those thoughts cross your mind? We’d like to think that we’re strong. We’d like to think that we can do it all on our own. But often we feel like we can’t. Know why? Because we can’t! If you’re trying to live your life trusting in your own strength or power, sooner or later you’re going to hit a brick wall. We can’t.
But God can. “‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6). The strength for life doesn’t come from me or you. It comes from God the Holy Spirit. The Spirit fills us with God’s Word. The Spirit empowers us with God’s strength. The Spirit comforts us with Jesus’ forgiveness. The Spirit prays for us each day. Whether you’re trying to grow a church or raise a family or just survive today, remember, “Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit.”
