Be Strong and Courageous!

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

You need that encouragement today. You’re going to face discouragement today. You’re going to face challenges and conflicts. You may even face what feels like a battle. God says, “Be strong and courageous”!

The people to whom those words were written were really facing a battle. The Israelites were preparing to enter the Promised Land, and that meant they would face years of war as they tried to conquer it. Before the battle even started, God wanted them to know that the battle didn’t depend on their strength or power. That would be terrifying! Instead, the battle depended completely on the Lord, “for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Those words are true for you today too. The same God who empowered the Israelites to enter the Promised Land… The same God who died on the cross to forgive all of your sins… The same God who rules the universe for your good… That same God goes with you today. He will never leave you nor forsake you. The battle doesn’t depend on your strength. The battle depends completely on the Lord.

So be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you!
