A Light in the Darkness

Writer: Pastor Nathan NassPastor Nathan Nass

I see a lot of darkness. The days outside are dark. But the darkness is so much more. Our world is changing rapidly. It’s getting darker and darker. It’s in my own heart too. “Why do I think that way? Why do I get so upset? Why can’t things go my way?” I see a lot of darkness. I bet you do too. It’s crushing.

But there’s hope. Listen to God’s promise: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:2). A light has dawned! Who? What? It’s Jesus. Jesus is a Light in the darkness. If the world seems dark today, that’s exactly the world Jesus came to. He came to our world of sin and brokenness to bring us light and joy and peace. Light is found in the manger, where God became a man for us. Light is found at the cross, where God died for us. Light is found in the Word of God written for us, which lifts our hearts with the message of Jesus.

We see a lot of darkness, but this Christmas, don’t fooled. A light has dawned! No matter what darkness you face, may Jesus and his birth chase away the darkness and fill your heart with light and peace.
